Most of us will suffer from some degree of hearing loss at some point in our lives, usually as a result of aging. A cochlear implant is a last resort option for those suffering from profound hearing impairment; the surgery always damages the inner ear, ruining chances of better natural hearing, and never provides hearing quite so good as natural. Still, for those with severe hearing issues, there are options: For them, cochlear implants may just be the way to go.
